Natural light is affordable, widely available, and versatile… it comes from the sun after all! But without proper management it can easily get out of control. In this class you'll learn to take that unruly natural light and tame it into something truly beautiful, using a variety of tools designed to knock it down, build it up, and block it out. Expect a comprehensive look at using reflectors, scrims and flags in the field to produce commercial quality light.
We’ll start by understanding light and shade and how that will drive your decisions when choosing a shooting location. Then you’ll learn how the addition of a small reflector can yield big results. As well as when and why to use the many different reflector materials. Then we’ll jump into using diffusion and flags to really take the edge off of harsh midday sunlight. Finally we’ll break out the big gear and use all of the tools in conjunction to completely control natural light. The result will give you studio quality control of the light no matter where you are.
Make sure to bring your camera as we’ll have NYC agency models on site to help demonstrate each technique, then YOU will get a chance to shoot with the models, to add something to your portfolio from the days workshop. We’ll also have all the latest gear from California Sunbounce (http://www.sunbounce.com/) for you check out and a rep on hand to answer any questions.
